At Chillventa 2026 in Nuremberg, we opened the fair with our anniversary press briefing and awards ceremony. We honoured our founding members Danfoss, FUCHS, GEA, Güntner, TH. WITT and Johnson Controls (formerly York International) for 30 years of commitment to natural refrigerants.
History: 30 Years of eurammon
1996
eurammon is founded in Frankfurt by 18 European companies to build acceptance for ammonia as a refrigerant.
2002
The Theo-Mack-Förderpreis recognises eurammon’s role in vocational training.
2006
The scope widens from ammonia to all natural refrigerants, the same year the EU F-Gas Regulation came into force.
2008
The eurammon magazine “Refrigerants by Nature” launches.
2010
A Technical Committee is formed, the annual Symposium starts in Schaffhausen, and two awards are created.
2012
Partnerships with IIAR (USA), Le Club Ammoniac, the Indian Ammonia Association, NVKL and the Green Cooling Association are established.
2016
Memorandum of Understanding with IIAR.
2024
Merger with Refrigerants, Naturally! e.V. into a single global voice.
2026
35+ member organisations, reach in over 100 countries, and a scope covering heating as well as cooling.

The next thirty years
Our mission has shifted from overcoming resistance to helping the sector embrace natural refrigerants in every viable application. eurammon will continue to help shape a future in which natural refrigerants are acknowledged as the reliable and sustainable future solution for climate-friendly, energy-efficient cooling and heating, reinforcing the sector’s contribution to net zero emissions. The work is not done.
