Case study
Food Sector Shock-Freeze Plants
Lower energy consumption and higher freezing speed of shock-freeze plants.
Key information
Client:
Anonymous
Supplier:
Bock Kältemaschinen
Type of facility:
cascade circuit, direct evaporation, dry expansion
System start-up:
1993
The trend towards natural refrigerants has arrived in the industrial sector - and particularly in the food sector. Years ago, innovative system developers called on Bock to develop a series of compressors for use with carbon dioxide, in addition to its standard compressors and compressor series for ammonia.
Requirements
Reduce energy consumption while increasing the freezing speed of shock-freeze plants in the food sector, thereby improving product quality. Ensure temperatures of -40°C to -50°C in the shock-freeze room.
Solution
Refrigeration system in cascade arrangement with carbon dioxide used as the refrigerant in the low-pressure stage.
Technical data
Cooling capacity:
-50 °C
Special features:
To date, more than 30 plants using this technology have been installed and taken up into operation in Germany.
